To Hitch up this trailer to your tow vehicle follow these steps
- Backup the tow vehicle close to the Hitch of the trailer
- Make sure that front and rear stabilizers on the trailer are up in the travelling position
- Adjust the front of the trailer using the power jack until the ball will go under the trailer coupler
- Backup the tow vehicle until the ball is directly under the trailers coupler
- Pull back the latch on the coupler
- Lower the trailer down onto the ball until it is entirely within the coupler and slide the coupler latch forward until it latches properly, note you may need to move the tow vehicle slightly forward to get the latch to fully engage (Use a spotter for this step)
- Once latched insert the latch pin
- Raise the trailer along with the tow vehicle for approx. 15-20 seconds until you hear a slight strain on the jack motor
- Insert both weight distribution bars into the hitch turrets and ensure that the clips fully engage
- Pull the pin up on rotating latches both sides of trailer tongue and Rotate them about 1/2 way down
- Count the chain links from the bars to number 8 or 9
- Attach the spring bar chains to the rotating latches with the appropriate chain link.
- Apply tension to the spring bar by using the wrench to rotate the latch counter-clockwise until the locking pin on the latch engages. Do this on both sides of the trailer
- Retract the trailers tongue jack completely until you hear a click from the mechanism
- Attach both safety chains to the tow vehicle
- Attach the break away cable to the tow vehicle, same spot as the chains
- Connect the trailers 7pin electrical connector to the tow vehicle.
- Remove and stow all jack pads and wheel stops
- Before leaving check that the trailer brakes and all trailer lights are working
Troubleshooting
- Issue: After coupling the trailer to the hitch head, the tow vehicle squats and the front of the trailer dips.
- Resolution: If necessary, raise the chains of the spring bars up by one link.
- Issue: After coupling the trailer to the hitch head, the tow vehicle is level but the front of the trailer dips.
- Resolution: Adjust the hitch mount receiver higher. Each adjustment up or down equals 1-1/2”.
- Issue: There is excessive sway.
- Resolution: Excessive sway may indicate that the trailer is improperly loaded. As a guideline, the tongue weight should be 10-15 percent of gross trailer weight. If it is not, redistribute the weight accordingly. If you encounter continuous sway or swaying that does not dissipate quickly, adjust the load.
- Resolution: For all truck models with factory sway control, it is suggested that the sway control be disabled for the best performance of the Blue Ox® SwayPro™.
- Issue: The ride is excessively rough.
- Resolution: Spring bar chains are too tight or the spring bars are too stiff for your tongue weight. Be sure the spring bar chains are set properly. Verify that the spring bars are properly rated for your tongue weight.
- Issue: Experiencing excessive tow vehicle movement.
- Resolution: Recommend that the tow vehicle tires are inflated to 90% of max inflation state on tire side wall
